The Huntington Library

Hi everybody! I'm Dr Nick. Okay, never did finish that doctorate. Anyway, I wanted to tell y'all about our trip to the Huntington Library on Sunday. It was sunny and in the 80's, a bit hot to be traipsing around the gardens, but with everything in bloom it was beautiful.

One of the main reasons we wanted to go back was that the Chinese pavilion would be complete. It was rather impressive, with a large Chinese-inspired house, a pond, bridges, and even an Asian-themed cafe.

One of the weird things was this giant rock.

Anyway, the whole place was very pleasant, and I got a number of good shots of the pagoda.

In addition to Chinese-themed gardens, we also spent a while in the (not kidding) "Bonzai-a-thon" and later in the Japanese gardens. The Bonzai-a-thon had a number of demonstrations and bonzai for sale, but we just strolled through and took some photos. There were some very artistic ones.

All told, we spent a long time looking at Asian-ish stuff. In California. Heh.
